Amazing Magical Minds

Year 5 parent - June 2026
Our Year 5 Magical Minds Tuition classes are for children who have just entered Year 5 to prepare them for the Grammar School tests at the beginning of Year 6.
Our Year 5 classes are designed to improve confidence and competence in English, comprehension, maths, verbal and non-verbal reasoning following the Year 5 curriculum.
Our 11+ classes are led by fully qualified primary teachers. Children receive tuition for an hour and a half weekly during term time for the whole year. There are approximately 36 classes altogether.
Assessment
We spend the first half term getting to know your child and assessing their ability, potential and motivation. We always give parents honest feedback and if we have any concerns at the end of this period we communicate them.
Formal written feedback is given at the end of the Autumn and Spring terms following full mock assessments.
Home Learning
We provide homework at the end of each lesson to consolidate skills taught. It is a vital part of the learning process. We review home learning progress on a weekly basis and it informs our ongoing assessment. Reading a wide range of fiction and non-fiction is essential to develop comprehension and vocabulary. As this is fundamental to success in the exam we provide a comprehensive reading list of suitable material. The exclusive Book Club is included in our fees.
Test Practice
We introduce tests gradually from February half term. We focus initially on sections of the tests and build up to sitting a test in its entirety. We find this is the best way to build confidence.
Class information
11+ classes are held at Abbotsbrook Hall on Saturday mornings.
2026/2027
Class 1: Saturday 11:00am - 12:30pm (Fully booked)
Class 2: Saturday 12:45am - 2:15pm (1 space remaining)
A deposit of £100 will be collected to secure your child’s place. This will include all of the resources your child needs to complete the course.
Classes are £52 a week which includes a 30 minute book club zoom call every month with all the book club resources.
